Can Dehydration Cause Back Pain?

Yes.

This is one reason people are often slightly taller in the morning than they are later in the day.

That is why I would remove the old rule telling everyone to drink half their body weight in ounces.

Common signs of dehydration may include:

  • Headache
  • Lightheadedness

More significant dehydration can become medically serious and may require prompt evaluation.

Back pain by itself, however, should not automatically be interpreted as a sign of dehydration.
